COG Pro in the news

booth

Cog-Pro was featured in Good Food World's report on the Tilth Producers Conference in November.

“Several of the workshop sessions this year confirmed just how much paper work is required for small and organic farmers.

“I was astonished at the number of clipboards it takes to keep track of all the elements needed to document production and distribution of products. Surely it requires buying them by the case from the office supply store! Then add the amount of paper and time it takes to track all the data. Yikes! I’m sure these farmers have lots more to do than be bookkeepers!

“On the other end of the spectrum – and for the price of one or two dozen clipboards (depending on the quality and volume) – farmers raising organic produce can use a computer, iPad or iPhone to keep all the records they need with COG Pro from Certified Organic Business Solutions. And when it comes time to assemble all the records and prepare all the forms for the next organic certification audit, it just takes a few minutes. After years of experience marketing and implementing specialized software applications, I’m all for automating repeated data collection!”

McClendons

McCendon's Select, profiled on the Apple website, talks about using COG Pro on an iPad:

“Accuracy is key for the farm’s planting manager, who no longer needs to leave the field to handle the careful record-keeping required to maintain an organic certification. Thanks to the 3G connection on her iPad, she can access the web-based COG Pro management system to update her records of seed types and where and when they’re planted. ‘Being certified organic means the consumer can be assured of having fresh fruit and produce that is not contaminated with pesticides and synthetic chemicals,’ Bob explains.”

Sustainable Business Oregon

Sustainable Business Oregon wrote an article about COG Pro and interviewed Richard Wilen...

“To be certified organic you have to keep tons of activity records,” he said, noting that every seed, crop, fertilizer application, even equipment cleaning must be accounted for.

“I never met a single farmer that got into this to become an accountant. It’s an incredible burden. I’m hoping this will bring a little sanity to the process.”

WNC blog

WNC Vegetable and Small Fruits News profiled COG Pro in a recent story

“The website is organized like a logbook with tabbed dividers, so users can easily enter their activities in a wide variety of categories. A simple click on a tab brings up the appropriate entry form and a view of previously entered records.”

“It also has a Good Agricultural Practices or GAPs record keeping function.”
