Farm Conditions
Maintaining proper sanitary growing conditions on the farm is an important part of food safety. In this section of the logbook, you will detail the conditions and materials used on your farm. It is especially important to keep track of all inputs that may be a source of contamination to your produce.
Water Testing Records: Register the results of surface water testing and treatments.
Material Inventory: Keep track of fertilizers, manure, agricultural chemicals and biological agents stored on your farm.
Materials Application Records: Keep track of the timing and location of all applications of materials made to the crops grown on your farms. These include inputs such as fertilizers and manure, herbicides, pesticides (including biological agents and agricultural chemicals), and materials used to control plant diseases.
Animal Monitoring Record: Log efforts to monitor, control and clean up after wild and domestic animals present in the growing areas of your farm. Document your animal monitoring program, pest and rodent control and identification and removal of manure from the growing environment.
Waste Management: Document your inspection of your waste disposal systems, including trash receptacles and sewer system, and waste removal efforts.
